For over two centuries Moët et Chandon has been the leading winegrower in Champagne. It is also the largest purchaser of grapes. Whilst the story of Moet Chandon dates back to the middle ages, it was not until an association with the Emperor Napoleon that Jean-Remy Moët became the most famous winemaker in the world, overwhelmed by international demand. To this day, spread out amongst a thousand hectares of the finest vineyards, Moet Chandon is the largest and most prestigious estate in Champagne, managing 200 of the 323 Crus of the region. The twenty eight kilometres of tranquil estate cellars are hewn out of the limestone stratas thirty metres directly below the historic estate Chateau at Epernay. Here the wines age slowly in naturally temperature controlled conditions within a network of galleries dating back to 1743.
