CASK 609 Distilled in 1948 and held in old sherry hogshead until bottling at the age of 53 years in 2002. Colour is of rich oak. A nose that is soft peat, lemon citrus and appley. Honey sweetness and balanced wood note. A palate of floral, light fruits with a lightly burnt peat smoke. A finish of excellent peat and light fruit balance. All Macallan bottled by the distillery has been matured in oak sherry casks from Spain; most of these are Spanish oak, imparting rich, resinous flavours and deeper colours. Other casks are American oak, imparting more delicate floral, vanilla flavours and a lighter colour.
