Watervale is a unique sub region within Clare Valley which produces some of Australia's most magnificent red wines. The soils are comprised of friable red clay loam over a limestone base, allowing for perfect drainage and natural low vigour to achieve high quality grapes displaying richness and ripe, developed tannins. Warm days and mild evenings during the ripening season are conducive to excellent flavour and berry development. Favourable growing conditions are quite consistent, achieving healthy harvests at almost every vintage. Parcels of Cabernet and Shiraz are separately placed into 10t open fermenters for vinification, followed by maturation in traditional large format oak barrels and vats.
