Sourced from Neil Steven's Glenoak property at Pokolbin, regarded as one of the finest white wine vineyards anywhere in Hunter Valley. The oldest block was planted in 1911 ranging through to the youngest vines which date back to 1965. Since inaugural vintage, Stevens Semillon has been awarded a breathtaking 21 trophies, 57 gold, 50 silver and 76 bronze medals.
At Tyrrell's Hunter Valley, the beginnings of five generations winemaking can be traced to an unassuming one roomed hut. The homestead of ironbark slabs was founder Edward Tyrrell's home. Built by hand in 1858 and progressively surrounded by grape vines, the site marks the birthplace of one of Australia's great winemaking dynasties. Glenoak is a predominantly hillside vineyard that features rich and unusually coloured purple ochre clay loams yielding a scant tonnage per acre. After a relatively cool fermentation, Steven spends minimal time on yeast lees, promptly bottled to maintain its freshness. Vinified completely unwooded, without any oak fermentation or maturation whatsoever. Alcohol 11.5%
TASTING NOTES
Light straw in colour. Complex mineral and flint aromas with a palate dominated by the length of fruit and richness of flavour. As always with semi mature Hunter semillon, there is a wonderful balance between the fresh citrus flavours of youth and the aged toasty characters that are beginning to surface. A very approachable wine.

About Tyrrells Wines
The story of Tyrrell's Wines is inextricably linked to the story of wine in Australia
It is a story about pioneers, men and women who transformed the Hunter Valley of NSW, planted grapes there, and looked for better ways to make wine. English immigrant Edward Tyrrell planted his first vines in the Hunter Valley in 1858 establishing Tyrrell's Wines after receiving a land grant in apparently poor pastureland in the lee of the Hunter Valley's Brokenback range.
