Coonawarra did not happen by chance, it was founded a century ago, based on sound scientific principles after the assessment of extensive feasibility studies. The Parker Estate Vineyard, situated at the Southern end of Coonawarra, was established in 1985 on the rich Terra Rossa over limestone soils. Parker Coonawarra have achieved an unmatched reputation both within Australia and overseas, wherever fine wines are revered for their integrity and consistently superb quality. Commercial constraints played no part in the development of Parker Coonawarra. Founder John Parker, after many years in the wine industry, was driven by a passion to produce superior red wines in Australia's premier red wine district.
