A shared interest in crafting exceptional quality wines inspired leading industry identities Alister Purbrick and Andrew McPherson to identify the choicest Victorian sites. Much of the estate plantings are old vine, a large portion of their production are destined for discerning enthusiasts overseas, the pick of crop is reserved for the most astute aficionados right here in Oz. Principle contender for best value Shiraz in the land, a palate of remarkable length, its plum and dark currant fruit characters are seasoned by complex spice notes and framed by delicate, carob oak.
McPherson make wines that are meant to be pleasant to all palates, clean, fruit driven styles which can be enjoyed at any time. Andrew McPherson embarked on his career under the tutelage of his father, established 1968, the McPherson estate vineyards retain some of the oldest vines in Victoria. Shiraz is harvested and crushed throughout the cool of night, inoculated and vinified under sweeping arm fermenters, aimed at achieving handsome colour, while extracting softer tannins, infusing the wine with excellent varietal characters and building palate weight. Upon completion, the wine is filled to a selection of American oaks for malolactic and eight months maturation.
TASTING NOTES

Delicious palate of ripe berries, plums and milled pepper piquancy, medium bodied, Shiraz of impressive length, disciplined tannins and a splendid, currant filled finish. More About McPherson Wines
Since its inception in 1968, McPherson Wines has been on an uncompromising quest for quality and a commitment to the very finest in winemaking
McPherson Wines had its beginnings in 1968. Jock McPherson worked in wineries in the early days of the industry in New South Wales. From him, his son Andrew learned the joys of winemaking, along with an honours degree in the use of colourful language. In 1974 Andrew embarked upon his career, he has spent his entire working life to date in the wine industry. In 1993 he established vineyard holdings in the Murray Darling region near Mildura. This region principally surrounds the mighty Murray River, the source of much Australian folklore due to its beauty and majesty. One of the most significant grape growing areas in Australia, the region is over 350km wide (east to west) and is renowned for its production of soft, generously flavoured wines. McPherson»
