There's never very much of it around but Hunter Valley Shiraz commands respect, as much for its personable regionality as its esoteric, epicurean appeal. Dr Lindeman planted his first Shiraz in 1843, labelling it Cawarra Claret for export to Europe and the Empire, where it claimed honours at the prestigious competitions of London and Paris. The legacy of some great old vineyards endures, crafted to the timeless Hunter Valley style, elegant with savoury fruit over a structure of lithe tannins, cosseted by a veneer of refined and polished oak.
TASTING NOTES
Bright crimson. Perfumed nose of glace fruits and black cherry spice, liquorice notes and hickory over a background of fragrant savoury oak. Medium bodied palate, dominated by the richness of black and red cherries, baking spice and allsorts, supported by a length of supple nutmeg oak, crisp savoury tannins and Hunter Valley bucolic grace.

More About Lindemans Winery
Lindemans promise more than the partnering of quality grapes and craftsmanship. Every wine contains the spirit and passion of founder Dr Henry J Lindeman
A graduate of London’s famous St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, Henry Lindeman discovered winemaking while travelling through Europe in the late 1830s. Fascinated by wine’s medicinal benefits, he devoted much of his time to learning the skilful craft. In 1840, he returned to England to marry Eliza Bramhall and within weeks, the couple embarked on a four-month voyage to start a new life in the Australian colonies. Lindemans»
