Shiraz grapes are sourced from the estate's Ghorepani block, an east facing vineyard planted to well drained, fertile soils. A close affinity to the land, respect for the vine and dedicated viticulture is the key to making a resplendent Victorian Shiraz, with the emphasis on maximising grape quality through sustainable agriculture. Wildwood are recognised for their consistency and purity of varietal character. Despite the adversity of limited rainfall, Wildwood consistently yields the quality of intense, ripe Shiraz fruit for which Sunbury is renowned.
Wildwood lies within a quiet rural setting with views down Oaklands Valley to Melbourne's skyline. The local surrounds have a history with viticulture that dates back to early settlement. In 1846, Madame Daniel and her five sons planted vines and fruit trees on their property near Bulla. Within sight of this planting, 150 years later, the Stott family planted their first three hectares of vine in a frost free maritime climate, on a layer of precious Terra rossa soils. Long dry and sunny late summer and autumn seasons bring on maximum fruit flavours. Shiraz grapes are grown to the highest standard of viticulture and sustainable agricultural techniques with minimal chemical fertilisers or sprays. All grapes are hand picked.
TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby colour. Bouquet shows bright fruit characters of red currant and raspberry with dried herbal scents of rosemary and thyme supported by a hint of vanilla and toasty new oak. A generously proportioned palate of red fruit flavours seasoned by earthy notes, liquorice and dried spice. A wine of elegance and harmony, lingering on a finish of gentle tannins.

More About Wildwood Wines
Located in the cool, dry Sunbury region, Wildwood have been quietly crafting wines of elegance and balance since 1983
In the heart of the Oaklands Valley lies Melbourne's closest winery - Wildwood. There are few wineries in the world which can claim to have a large metropolis virtually on their boundary. Located just 4km north of the Melbourne Airport, off the Tullamarine Freeway, the vineyard stands at an elevation of 132m, allowing for panoramic views of the Melbourne skyline and out to the Mornington Peninsula. As the southernmost part of the Sunbury region, we experience a cool, dry climate, lying in the shadows of Mt. Macedon. History records that great wines were made in this area from the early 1800s.
