Marlborough enjoys conditions that are perfect for fruit ripening and flavour development. It is the world's most essential Sauvignon Blanc winegrowing region. Good vineyards in the Awatere and Wairau sub-districts are selected and monitored throughout the growing season. Canopy training systems are utilised to produce a complex array of aromas and flavours. Nobilo isolates the most vibrant Sauvignon Blanc grapes for the Icon, a vigorous wine with seductive fragrances of passionfruit with lychee, an opulent palate and endless finish.
Close attention is paid to sunlight penetration of the canopy and soil moisture levels to achieve the best results. Harvested during the early hours of the morning to ensure the grapes remain cool. All fruit is crushed and destemmed through the utilisation of tipper tanks and state of the art technology that allows gentle, more efficient processing. A portion of the juices are given several hours of skin contact to encourage the release of flavour precursors. The fermentations are cool and prolonged, inoculated by a variety of yeasts to achieve added complexity within the aromas and flavours. Post fermentation, Nobilo is settled and racked off finings, cold stabilised and sterile filtered prior to bottling. Approx 13.0%

More About Nobilo Wines
Steeped in history, Nobilo wines are proudly acclaimed as some of New Zealand's most respected pioneering wine brands
The history of the company in New Zealand goes back to the early 1940's when the Nobilo family landed in New Zealand. They settled in Huapai, West Auckland, situated in the North Island of New Zealand, and started planting vines in 1943. The Nobilo family effectively persuaded and guided the New Zealand wine industry away from hybrid grape varieties and fortified wines, to a higher level of quality wine, now recognised and appraised by all markets.
