Margaret River is one of the world's great wine growing regions, renowned for producing exceptional, fully aromatic whites, and tangy, herbaceous Semillon/ Sauvignons. Cartwheel's vineyards enjoy the best of the region's maritime climes typified by long, dry summers and moderate, sultry wet winters. To fully express the unique regional characters of the Margaret River, Cartwheel employs winemaking techniques which permit the fruit flavours to shine right through. Enjoy now and experience the unrestrained zip and vivaciousness.
Cartwheel's Margaret River vineyards are chosen for their capacity to produce intense wines. Ideal ripening conditions are the norm, and the vines are refreshed by the maritime winds coming off the Indian Ocean. Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grown to choice soils, well-drained sandy loams over water retentive clay loams. Grapes are harvested throughout the cool of the evening to maintain low fruit temperatures, before being crushed and pressed into tanks. After being settled overnight and racked, a cool fermentation is initiated, after which the batches of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are assessed and assembled into a decidedly regional classic dry white.
TASTING NOTES
Pale straw, hints of green. The nose shows intense aromas of gooseberry, passionfruit and citrus, further expressions of tropical fruit. These aromas develop across the palate along with grassy notes, characters of lime and green vegetable, nuances of slate and nut oil, a wonderful minerality that's made racey by the steely tang of fine fruit acids.
