To share a Grange from one's own cellar is one of the great wine experiences. Richly textured, intensely concentrated and packed with fruit sweetness, these wines, regardless of vintage, require medium to long-term cellaring. This is a wine of admirable balance and poise, with trademark mid-palate richness. Last Tasted 1-Sep-03, winemaker comments by Max Schubert. Colour is medium brick red. Complex nose, mature smoked oyster and truffle aromas with some stocky sweetness. Palate is beginning to fade, with some sweet but over-developed fruit and earthy leather characters. Plenty of grip but drying out, and peak drinking now to 2008.
