Steeped in national history for their significant contribution to viticulture, Nobilo are one of New Zealand's most distinguished winemaking estates. Their vineyard team have taken an initiative to develop the most suitable terrains and to retain the most expressive parcels of fruit. The first choice in Pinot Gris, from harvests grown to splendid sites within the salubrious growing climes of Hawkes Bay, grapes with the brightest flavours and most vibrant aromas have been fashioned into a deliciously fruit driven, complex, off dry style.
Pinot Gris is picked at optimum levels of ripeness and treated to a cool fermentation, leaving some residual sweetness to create a drier style. Berries are evenly coloured with a typical shade of light grey, flecked by red and pink. Fruit is crushed and destemmed, a portion of the juices are given several hours of skin contact to release the flavour precursors. Fermentation is carried out exclusively in tank, inoculated to yeasts selected for their ability to accentuate the aromatics and mouthfeel. The slow, cool ferment is stopped early to provide a touch of residual sweetness on the palate. The final wine is cold stabilized, fined and sterile filtered prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Light straw in colour with a pinkish hue. A rich, perfumed bouquet of orange blossom and pear. Flavours of ripe stonefruit, melon and pear linger on the palate. Showing excellent weight and balance, a creamy texture complemented by gentle acidity. Elegant and refreshing, it closes to a smooth, generous finish.

About Nobilo Winery
Steeped in history, Nobilo wines are proudly acclaimed as some of New Zealand's most respected pioneering wine brands
The history of the company in New Zealand goes back to the early 1940's when the Nobilo family landed in New Zealand. They settled in Huapai, West Auckland, situated in the North Island of New Zealand, and started planting vines in 1943. The Nobilo family effectively persuaded and guided the New Zealand wine industry away from hybrid grape varieties and fortified wines, to a higher level of quality wine, now recognised and appraised by all markets.
