The Orange winegrowing region is Australia's most recent, remarkably it is also the most promising. A very short run of exceptional vintages has inspired a gold rush into local viticulture, Forest Edge Vineyard was one of the earliest, originally established to vine in 1988. The small, parched berries make a piquant, exquisitely peppery style of Shiraz, brimming with clean fruit characters and lined by splendid tannins. Following the harvest and a minimalist handling in vinomatic fermenters, parcels are racked into a selection of French and American oak barrels for maturation.
