A pure Grampians Shiraz, much of the fruit from vines planted to the eastern granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. A significant whole bunch maceration component is central to the style, building on the perfumes and delicate aromatics. Showing terrific weight of fruit flavours, complex spice and balanced tannins. With an excellent balance of finesse and depth, pointing the way for Cliff Edge Shiraz in terms of intensity and structure. Deep and dynamic, fashioned from parcels of the most splendid Victorian Shiraz, a more powerful rendering than it's local siblings.
Cliff Edge is made from fully mature vines which sit at the very edge of cool climate Shiraz territory. The Mount Langi vineyards are nestled between two dramatically beautiful mountain ranges. A 540 metre cliff face towers over the precious old vines at Mount Langi Ghiran. Following foot treading and inoculation to a mix of Maurivin B and M2 yeasts, fruit is vinified completely to dry over the course of a fortnight in traditional open fermenters. Parcels are macerated fourteen days on skins, tread by boot throughout the fermentations and treated to malolactic before fourteen months maturation in a selection of new and seasoned 228 Litre French oak barriques. Alcohol 14.5%
TASTING NOTES
Dark garnet red with dense purple rim. Dark cherry, blueberry fruits and hints of roasted coffee with backgrounded mixed spice characters. A dark and deeply complex integration of spice, floral notes and pepper interwoven with vibrant berry fruits. Length of palate and flavour is supported by a subtle acidity. Excellent fine grained tannins in full support, all the way to the clean, powerful finish.

More About Mount Langi Winery
The vineyards of Mount Langi Ghiran are nestled between two dramatically beautiful mountain ranges on the southern edge of the Great Dividing Range in Western Victoria, 180 km west of Melbourne
Pronounced "Mount Langee Jeeran", the name is Aboriginal for "Home of the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo". The initial vineyards were planted by the Fratin brothers in 1963, on the site of a vineyard that had been in operation at the turn of the century. Their first plantings were Shiraz, and initially, the grapes were sold to neighbouring winemakers. The exceptionally high quality of their fruit quickly drew a strong following and encouraged the Fratins to begin making their own wine. Mount Langi»
