This is like a young kid when allowed, finally, to speak at the table – bursting out with passionfruit, lime cordial, grape pulp, feijoa and cut grass. But it's not big, as such – just a riot of action. It's really well balanced, and a good-value drink.
Tasmania has a reputation for producing delicately perfumed Riesling, fine and floral with distinctive, refreshing flavours. Fruit is harvested from low-cropping vines, mainly trained to trellises, exposing the ripening bunches to the sun, thereby achieving full ripeness and well-balanced flavours. Various winemaking techniques are finely tuned to capture and enhance the characteristics of the delicate Riesling. The grapes are carefully processed using full protective handling to avoid any juice oxidation or browning. The clear fresh juice is then fermented slowly at low temperatures to capture the inimitable flavours that Riesling has on offer. Bottled early to maximise the retention of fresh fruit flavours and aromas.
TASTING NOTES
Pale golden straw. Soft, delicate, lifted aromatic nose of apple blossom, honeysuckle with underlying hints of zesty acid peel fruits and exotic flowers. Lively lemon and lime with honey and quince. The wine is refreshing with fruit bursting along the palate, leaving long fine flavours that knit well with the clean mineral acid quartzy finish. To taste, there's grape fleshiness, a note of honey bears and richly spiced apple, too, in a tightly packed palate of slatey elegance. Made for enjoyment, versatile enough to match with most foods.

About Ninth Island Winery
The Ninth Island Vineyard blocks sit on the 41st parallel astride Tasmania's lavish Pipers Brook and Tamar River Valley regions
Ninth Island, which is part of the Kreglinger group of wineries, acquired the immensely successful D Block Vineyard in 1993. Being located on the banks of the Tamar River this site does not have the frost risk of Tasmanian other vineyards. The view here is fantastic, and being a comparatively warm site, it is dedicated to table wine production, the backbone for Ninth Island's Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc range. It is also the source of Pipers Brook Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Tamar Estate (Cab/Merlot) wines. It is also the only site that is able to adequately ripen fruit if the vines are managed correctly to produce the Pipers Brook Tamar Estate Cab Merlot Ninth Island»
