The accumulated vinicultural experience and history at Wild Oats is truly impressive. Mudgee is home to some of the oldest Chardonnay rootstock in Australia and boasts a long history of producing outstanding, award winning white wines. A pure varietal Chardonnay from grapes grown to the Oatley estate vineyards at Mudgee, crafted to a forward drinking, modern styling, full bodied yet crisp, with lifted citrus and melon flavours. Wild Oats is a contemporary take on the style, where oak supports rather than dominates the well defined fruit.
The Oatleys have played an important role in the growth of the Australian wine industry and it's export markets, ever since their first vintage as owner operators of Rosemount Estate in 1974. Today, the Oatleys believe that Mudgee has an excellent, somewhat untapped potential for Chardonnay. Various winemaking regimes are employed to produce a complex yet fruit driven style. Chardonnay is harvested from Oatley vineyards at Woodbrook and Craigmoor, with further components from Wooloomooloo and Chardonnay Park. Parcels are treated to a mix of fermenters and older French oak. A portion completes malolactic to contribute texture and complexity.
TASTING NOTES
Straw colour. Aromas of white peach, ripe melon and custard apple with a hint of vanilla nougat that adds richness, depth and complexity. The bright, generous upfront fruit flavours of nectarine and fig gently flow to a clean, refined finale. A delicious Chardonnay with good texture, flavour and finesse.

More About Oatley Wines
The Oatley Wines story is of the legendary Oatley family themselves, supported by an outstanding group of extended family and friends
The Oatleys have played an important part in the Australian wine industry since their first vintage at Rosemount Estate in 1974. Those wines were the predecessors of many hundreds of highly awarded and recognised bottlings of fine Australian wine under the Oatley family direction. With the 2001 merger of Rosemount to Southcorp Wines and the subsequent sale of Southcorp to Foster’s in 2005, the Oatleys decided to re-enter the wine business. Logically they followed their calling back to the vineyard and established Oatley Wines, quickly gathering a team of extended family and friends to do the job. Oatley»
