Distinguished Langtons Classification. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from forty year old vines planted to the peerlesss Limestone Ridge property, planted directly above an escarpment of limestones which form the backbone of Coonawarra's famous cigar shaped Terra rossa strip. The depth of top soils are particularly shallow, making for an exceptionally well drained, low yielding vineyard. Limestone Ridge is a Coonawarra classic, endowed with layers of rich, peppery fruit, the finest structure and legendary ageing qualities.
Concerned by the proliferation of hazardous distillates throughout the colonies, Dr Henry J Lindeman became devoted to advancing the medicinal properties of good wine. Crafted to a style which remains faithful to Dr Lindeman's philosophy of health and well being, Limestone Ridge is the culmination of a century and a half of viticulture. The vineyard is planted to 75% Shiraz and 25% Cabernet, the ultimate cepage for Australian claret. Idyllic growing conditions and highly favourable ripening seasons are the norm at Limestone Ridge, the fruit has always been of the very highest quality. The finished wine is matured eighteen months in a combination of new and prior use American and French oak barrels. Alcohol 14.3%
TASTING NOTES
Dense vibrant purple hue. Attractive blackberry and mulberry fruit nose with dark liquorice and spicy vanillin oak aromas. Rich blackberry and mulberry fruit flavours over elements of pepper and spice. Limestone Ridge is elegant yet intense with an even textural palate, framed by tasteful oak, finishing on an extended length of the finest, firm chalky tannins.

More About Lindemans Winery
Lindemans promise more than the partnering of quality grapes and craftsmanship. Every wine contains the spirit and passion of founder Dr Henry J Lindeman
A graduate of London’s famous St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, Henry Lindeman discovered winemaking while travelling through Europe in the late 1830s. Fascinated by wine’s medicinal benefits, he devoted much of his time to learning the skilful craft. In 1840, he returned to England to marry Eliza Bramhall and within weeks, the couple embarked on a four-month voyage to start a new life in the Australian colonies. Lindemans»
