Exceptional Langtons Classification. One of the new world's most renowned marques in Shiraz, a wine of stature which carries a pedigree that only Lutheran consecrated, Eden Valley vines can impart. You expect something very special from the prestigious Hill of Grace and Henschke truly delivers. A lush, pure and sweet offering with all the essences of complex old vine Shiraz, intensely perfumed and solidly structured, on a length of velvety soft tannins.
Johann Christian Henschke emigrated from Silesia to settle and farm in the Eden Valley. By the time third generation Paul Alfred Henschke took over the reins in 1914, the famous Hill of Grace Shiraz vines were over fifty years of age. The famous vines were planted around the 1860s by Nicolaus Stanitzki, to rich alluvial soils in a shallow fertile valley just northwest of the current Henschke wineworks. Opposite the property stands a beautiful old Lutheran Church named Gnadenberg, built of local field stone, it literally means Hill of Grace. Following a traditional open fermentation, Hill of Grace is treated to an extended maturation in completely new French and American oak hogsheads before assemblage.

More About Henschke Winery
Henschke is one of the longest established family names in the Barossa
Johann Christian Henschke purchased land for a farm at Keyneton in 1861, after fleeing religious persecution in Silesia. He planted a small vineyard and an orchard, and after initially making wine for family consumption produced his first commercial vintage in 1868, believed to be principally riesling and shiraz. Each subsequent generation built upon the reputation for quality, but it was fourth-generation Cyril Alfred Henschke who in 1958 created the wine that has most captured the red wine world's imagination - Hill of Grace.
