Good value and remarkably successful at Australian wine shows, this merlot shows a little more body and depth and flavour than most at this price and definitely deserves a try.
An exceptional range of wines, Warburn is produced from grapes grown on specially designated vines in South Eastern Australia. Only the most outstanding parcels of grapes are chosen for these hand-crafted wines. The Merlot grape responds magnificently to the estate's Riverina vineyard warm microclimate, producing wines with rich aromas and flavours, and good length.Selected from small parcels of vines grown on the estate, and at selected vineyards, the Premium Reserve are skilfully matured in American and French oak for approximately twelve months. Individual barrels are meticulously selected to produce the aromas, the fine balance of flavours and textures that make Warburn such a favourite and excellent wine.
TASTING NOTES
Colour is a deep garnet red. Soft aromas of blackberry fruit, chocolate with a hint of cedar, spices and a touch of mint. Wonderfully broad palate with complexity and velvety blueberry-like tannins, hints of anise, and a warm meatyness complimented by strokes of minty briar, chocolate and coffee, plums and fig. Smooth and velvety, the palate shows plush, round fruit, with earthy and spice characters framed by smooth and silky tannins, and finishes on a soft note. Enjoy this Merlot with middle-eastern dishes such as roasted chicken with rosemary and garlic, lasagna and spicy kofta with hummus. While ready to enjoy now, the Premium Reserve has cellaring potential.

About the Warburn Estate Winery
Warburn Estate's outstanding success has been achieved through it's expertise in traditional winemaking and innovative techniques
Warburn Estate is located near Griffith in New South Wales, in the centre of the large Riverina grape-growing and agricultural region. Warburn Estate is one of New South Wales most significant wine producers with more than 1000 hectares under vine, a crush capacity of 40,000 tonnes, tank storage for 35 million litres of wine and an annual turnover of $40 million. Warburn Estate proudly remains a private company, maintaining its winemaking independence with the ability to quickly respond to market demands and client needs. The company (formerly Riverina Wines Pty Ltd), is owned by the Sergi family, whose winemaking traditions began in Italy many years ago. Migrants Giuseppe and his son Antonio began to grow grapes on their farm and making wines for his family and friends using old barrels and hand made machinery. He would often sell bulk wine in 200 litre drums, a practice common in Italian cantinas, and would travel extensively throughout Australia to supply his customers. Warburn Estate»
