Follow the Australian continent's final sunset to the home of Cartwheel. Intrepid winemaking maestro Sam Glaetzer left his beloved Barossa to take his pick of Western Australia's fruit, vineyards which are renowned for producing harvests of the finest Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. A sub tropical climate surrounds the vines, blown by three maritime winds which ensure cool dry summers and wet winters, idyllic for growing the crisp, flavoursome grapes which are destined to be crafted into Western Australia's most popular and refreshing style of white wine.
From terroirs which can only be described as perfect for yielding vibrant white wines. Healthy budbursts and favourable summers set the stage for ripening conditions which enable fruit to slowly develop the ripest flavours for wines of good structure. Gentle winemaking techniques are applied to showcase the unique influence which Great Southern exerts on the white varietal grapes. Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc are harvested during the cool of evening to ensure lower temperatures in the grapes before being crushed and pressed to tank. After an overnight settling and racking, a cool fermentation with choice yeasts is initiated. Components are trialled and assessed before assembling into the final wine.
TASTING NOTES
Pale golden straw with tinges of green. Cartwheel offers intense, lifted aromas of passionfruit, melons and apple. Gooseberry, lychee and green pea aromas in support. The palate shows passionfruit, honeydew melon and grapefruit flavours over a subtle hint of fresh greens. The palate is full and complex yet bright and refreshing. The lengthy finish is supported by vibrant, zesty acid.

More About Cartwheel Winery
Yearning for adventure, a sense of fun and escapism? Cartwheel takes you off the beaten track to the inspiring Margaret River and Great Southern regions
Cartwheel's premium wines embody the natural sophistication of Western Australia's unique landscape and environment. The Margaret River wine region is focused around the Margaret River Township, which is located 250km South-West of Perth on a large peninsula of the West Australian Coast. Margaret River has a temperate maritime climate that is typified by long dry summers and moderate but very wet winters. Rising only to an elevation of 90m, the soils are well-drained sandy loams over water retentive clay loam that eliminates the need for supplementary watering in summer. Cartwheel»
