Planted to a property named Wildfell in 1851 by the original proprietor, Redbox estate's vines are gingerly husbanded to yield the most essential examples of Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Redbox make the most of an affinity between this slow ripening noble varietal and the condusive climes of Yarra Valley. Re established in 1986, the innovative approach to viticulture and highly skilled efforts of the team translate into a wine of luscious berry fruit characters, supportive oak and mouthfilling tannins, in a graceful contemporary styling.
The rolling hills around Redbox Vineyard, broken by dense stands of Red Box and other eucalypts affect the ripening of grapes and embellish the fruit with distinct Yarra valley regionality. The choicest parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested in perfect condition, destemmed and crushed with very loose rollers which burst approximately two thirds of the berries. The choicest parcels are vinified in small two tonnes open top fermenters at around 25C for ten days while being treated to a course of hand plunging. The wine was left on skins for a period of maceration followed by a transfer to a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barriques for a year's maturation. Alcohol 12.2%
TASTING NOTES
A deeply coloured wine. Aroma of dark berries and chocolate with toasty vanillan oak. A palate of blackberries, currant and raspberry, the background of soft coconut oak suporting a fruit driven style with solid structure, good length and a nicely rounded mouthfeel, finishing to lovely rolling tannins. Take your Redbox to a standing rib roast or flame grill of spiced venison bangers.

About Redbox Wines
Right in the centre of the enchanting Shire of Nillumbik, at the western end of the Yarra Valley in the village of Kangaroo Ground you will find the Redbox Winery
Set on a property, named Wildfell by the first landholder in 1851, the Redbox Estate's fruit is gingerly tended and harvested to produce a fine range of wines. The Shire of Nillumbik is steeped in history and dotted with villages and towns, each with its own special magic. Names like Cottle's Bridge, Panton Hill, St Andrews, Hurstbridge and Wattle Glen all hinting of a culture brought to the region by the Scottish settlers in the early 1800s. The eight acre vineyard was originally planted to Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet in 1986. It's proximity to Melbourne and the rolling hills broken by dense stands of Red Box and other eucalypts makes it a haven for weekend visitors and wine tasters from all over. Redbox»
