Wolf Blass proudly commemorates a thirty year milestone with the Black Label Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec. Wolf Blass Black Label has been the forerunner of the modern Australian wine style, and builds on the elements and philosophies developed in the 1960s by winemakers Wolf Blass and John Glaetzer. An exhausting series of wine trials by Chris Hatcher and Caroline Dunn, has seen the Black Label undergo a transition from a heavier American oaked wine style to a refined oak palate with solid fruit concentration.

The 2003 vintage was a winemaker's dream. The season began with a cool, wet winter and spring, and, after the coolest summer on record in South Australia, ended with a cool dry autumn. These conditions allowed the grapes to ripen very slowly and to realise their full potential of colour and flavour whilst retaining a fine, elegant structure. Chris Hatcher said the philosophy for Wolf Blass Black Label remains as the finest red blend made from the highest quality grapes from South Australia from the given vintage. The 2003 Black Label is drinking as an outstanding example of a super premium Australian red, and an excellent example of the elegant yet powerful wines crafted from the outstanding 2003 vintage.
