Houghton have been famous for their rejuvenating white wines since colonial times, called upon by pioneers and early settlers to quench their thirst after a hard days labour. Exported to the British Empire, they earned a reputation for excellence and established their trademark as the red stripe brand. Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc is a wine that West Australia does best, choice parcels are assembled by Houghton into the classically dry, early drinking accord of citrus, herbaceousness and slate, complemented by a touch of punchy gooseberry fruit.

An equitable balance of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, drawn from some of Houghton's best vineyards. Good vine growth and healthy canopies are essential to the development of perfect grape clusters. The aim is to achieve ideal ripening and flavour characteristics, desirable acid and pH levels in well proportioned fruit. Grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness, parcels are crushed, chilled and gently pressed to retain bright fruit flavours. Varietal components are separately vinified at cooler temperatures to capture and retain the unique characters of each grape. Upon completion, batches are held for two months on lees to build texture and complexity before assembling into the finished wine. Alcohol 12.5%
