The fruits of growing season 2003, cellared by David Traeger until release, have developed beautifully and speak of a sensational vintage year. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a dash of Petit Verdot, crafted at the Sommerset Crossing Wineworks, matured twelve months under a combination of the finest French Nevers oak hogsheads, followed by an extended term under the Seymour cellars. A complex wine with an earthy palate and evolved, old spice characters, dark berry flavours and well perfumed, red and black currant notes.
TASTING NOTES
Garnet red, darker robes. Bouquets of red berry and cassis, cedar notes, carob and clove oak. Ripe sweet berries flow on the velvet textured palate, the fleshyness of ripe cherry, currants and plum, French vanilla bean and cocoa oak, a mellow wine of seamlessness, satin textures and the most succulent tannins.
 David Traeger
David Traeger is known throughout Australia for making one of the nation's most popular Verdelho wines
Following an award winning history at Michelton, Traeger struck out on his own, and was met with immediate success. David Traeger established his operation at the Nagambie Lakes of central Victoria in 1978, focussing on Shiraz and Verdelho. Nagambie Lakes is a sub-region of the Goulburn Valley, located in the south along the Goulburn River. The soils formed on the banks of the Goulburn River are red brown, clay loams of moderate fertility with ridges of red sandy loams thrown up by the river system and more ironstone deposits located to the west.
