The Adelaide Hills are well suited to Sauvignon Blanc, its cool moderate temperatures and rolling green hills, encourage a long slow ripening. From a single vineyard near Kersbrook, comes an exquisite harvest of fruit that's second to none, artfully crafted by the Peter Lehmann team into Hill & Valley Sauvignon Blanc, a fully aromatic wine, with vibrant varietal character and irresistible regional charm, piquantly flavoured palate and crisp, lingering finish. It is significant that the majority of vineyards from which Peter Lehmann sources fruit, are classified as mature, to very old, many are ungrafted and dry grown. The Adelaide Hills were one of Australia's first winegrowing regions, the area was rediscovered as perfect for white wine and replanted to Sauvignon Blanc twenty years ago. Harvests are kept small through vigorous pruning and close cropping, yielding outstanding white wines of great purity. Grapes are picked throughout the cool of night, crushed, chilled and left on skins overnight to enhance flavour. Fruit is treated to a cool vinification in controlled fermenters, followed by clarification and early bottling to capture the pristine Adelaide Hills vitality.
TASTING NOTESPale straw green hue. Delicate tropical perfumes, a touch of citrus. The palate is finely blanced and structured, heightened acidity and exemplary natural fruit flavour, before a refreshingly dry, persistent finish. A Sauvignon Blanc of great delicacy, purity and finesse, drink young as aperitif or serve alongside seafood or chicken, shucked oysters or Thai spring rolls. |
