Brown Brothers are the most eminent custodian of Crouchen in Australia. Their viticultural team have established vineyards in the Mallee, which are highly specialised to yield the best fruit. Bringing Crouchen and Sauvignon Blanc together in a bright and juicy, refreshingly fruit driven wine, achieves the consumate accompaniement to today's contemporary styles of cuisine. An exciting new twist on two long time favourites which are marvelously suited to each other. Plainly wonderful alongside Asian chilli recipes, chicken caesar or cheese rocquet pizzette.
Crouchen is a white grape which originated in the western Pyrenees of France, due to its temperamental nature however, it is no longer there in any quantity. Sauvignon Blanc hails from the picturesque Loire Valley, where it is responsible for the aromatic, deeply flavoured dry white wines of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume. An assemblage of roughly equal components, harvested at a range of ripe sugar baume levels from 11° to 13°, immediately crushed, inoculated and vinified under cool temperature controlled conditions to capture the singular affinity between Crouchen and Sauvignon Blanc. The finished wine is bottled very promptly after completion, to retain all the bright, crisp characters of grapes on the vine. Alcohol 11.0%
TASTING NOTES
Bright straw hue. Lifted aromas of asparagus and green capsicum, courtesy of Sauvignon Blanc, passionfruit and ripe pear of Crouchen. The aromas follow through to the palate, grassyness and herb, passionfruit and ripe pear, lively, delicate and fresh. Serve well chilled whilst young and fresh. Perfect with pesto chicken or pan fried fish with milled pepper and squeeze of lemon.
 Brown Brothers
In 1885 John Francis Brown, aged 18 planted ten acres of mostly Riesling, Muscat and Shiraz grapes on his Milawa property, located in the lower reaches of the King Valley in North East Victoria
Milawa Vineyard is the birth place of the Brown Brothers company, the first Brown Brothers wines were released in 1889. Surrounding the cellar door, Milawa Vineyard is the fruit source for renowned wines such as Patricia Noble Riesling, Shiraz Mondeuse & Cabernet and Dolcetto. It is also home to Brown Brothers’ winemaking facilities where grapes are received, crushed and made into quality wine. The current expanse of Brown Brothers vineyards, now located throughout Victoria, are as varied as the wines and wine styles. Brown Brothers»
