Sourced from mature, low yielding dry grown vines, grown to the best Saltram vineyards and choice sites on the Barossa Valley floor. Saltram NO.1 is a classic statement of intensity and finesse. After careful fruit selection and harvest, grapes are crushed and the must transferred to traditional open fermenters. To extract maximum colour, flavour and tannins from skins, the juices are treated to an extended maceration. After ferments are complete the wine is pressed and racked into a selection of seasoned and new French oak barrels and larger format oak vats. After twenty two months maturation, batches are assessed and the finest of all are included into the finished Number One. Alcohol 14.5%
